Al Gore studied under the guy who spent most of his career taking measurements. Everything in Gore’s film could be extracted from those numbers, but who would pay attention?

So we have the metaphor of the boiling frog. We have time lapse photos of glaciers. We have an animated drawing of the thermohaline circulation and a report of what happened the last time it was disrupted.

When I first saw it all (not in a theater and there was more than what found its way into the film) I was fascinated but I wondered how many people would share my fascination.

Lots of people, it turned out. When I got cross-examined, the questions were plainly in good faith. And sometimes I had to say I would look up the answer and mail it in…which I always did.

So, I was wondering. What do you think Gore should have done with those numbers?
