Author’s Note: I have been absent from Medium and here’s why.

On Easter, an ambulance took me away from my home and deposited me in an isolation ward at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock. That rabbit had no sense of humor.

I chose the hospital, and it was a good choice. My symptoms tracked the symptoms of coronavirus infection. They stuck the wooden stick up my nose but they immediately attacked the raging infection I had with IV antibiotics. My test came back negative and so did my wife’s. Her symptoms were mild compared to mine.

The infection did not go quietly, and after my body “won” I was left with very little strength. I am still not 100 percent, but I now am scheduled to be discharged next Monday.

When my test came back negative, I gained the run of the place and my wife brought me my lap top. I finished the final edit and the next time I see the book, it will be in galleys. I intend to write about the coronavirus adventure, but this story was the first thing to pop out.

While I practically lived in the library, I did not really know how to use it. There was always something I wanted to read and so I read, remaining ignorant of how to research anything starting from zero.
