It would be more to the point of what I wrote to ask, if the 2020 election is about race, who decided that would be the case?

And if this were 1953, and you were black (pardon the assumption that you are not), and the unions were as much involved in keeping you in your place as they in fact were…..then what would your idea of the number one issue determining your vote be?

I’m just describing what I see going on. I’ve not given much thought to approving or disapproving of identity politics because that would be like passing a penal code without including a right of self-defense. Futile.

Further, if all is as you say, and we minorities are too dumb to be persuaded and vote accordingly, then we are probably too dumb to be trusted to vote, right? That would mean, I suppose, that LBJ doomed the nation and not just the Democratic Party in the south when he signed the Voting Rights Act?

OK, I’m going to make a liar of myself and utter a value judgment rather than a description: I’m glad LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act.
