White Collar Criminals and Persons Recommended for Pardon by Reality TV Stars Need Not Be Investigated. Let ’em out.
President Donald John Trump has deployed the most powerful and unreviewable weapon in the presidential arsenal to protect the criminals who are only considered criminals by a technicality. Mr. Trump raises the true white collar defense — that these aren’t real criminals — every chance he gets.
These people are not depraved and dangerous. They are guilty of nothing more than perhaps an excessive zeal to win. Sometimes, Mr. Trump is able to lay it out so clearly it would move the blind. The appropriate punishment reduces to two words that carry the message so rare among the best people: “You’re fired!”
Important people, after all, don’t get fired. They do have some unfortunate twists and turns in their cases. Gov. Rod Blagojevich did not set out to extort a children’s hospital; he only intended to sell a U.S. Senate seat. He meant no harm.
As for Ford Motor Company calculating how many customers will go up in flames from Pinto and Maverick fuel tanks weighed against the cost of repairing the design defect….you can’t be serious. If we bring this down to the world where real business is done, the beef with Ford is not the pricing…
