War, what war?

Lemme see…Iran just fired a second missile salvo…Iran and US warplanes are in the air but we don’t know yet if they’ve engaged…and the US assassinated the Iranian equivalent of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff….

Things have gotten complicated since I got out of the USAF in 1968. Back then, they told us not to even point a weapon at someone unless they shot at us, in which case we could shoot back….but if we exchanged shots, that was a war, which was why we’d damn well better not start it.

Now we can have all this military hardware engaged and on TV I hear that if we’re not careful there might be a war. So I hope we’re careful, because I’d rather not go to war…even if I no longer know how to tell.
