Democrats Begin to Thin the Herd

Bias disclosure: In my first career as a Texas judge, I was elected and re-elected as a Democrat and remained a Democrat though the rise of one party Republican government in Texas because my base was the People’s Republic of Austin. My debt to the people of Austin is beyond calculation; my debt to the Democratic Party on the national level, not so much. I quit over the “Blue Dogs,” who torpedoed Barack Obama’s best ideas because they considered their jobs more important. Most of the Blue Dogs got sent back to the kennel by the voters anyway, but I have identified as an Independent ever since. In the last presidential election, I supported Larry Lessig. If you care about my reasons, read Lessig’s book, Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress — and a Plan to Stop It. Lessig was cheated out of his earned spot at the debate by the same people who had their thumb on the scales for Hillary Clinton. Corruption being a major issue for me, I switched my support to Bernie Sanders but I voted for Clinton in the general election. It was entirely predictable that the Trump administration would make Warren G. Harding’s appear to be a model of probity. By comparison, Clinton’s corruption issues were Little Rock Lite. This disclosure will appear when I write about this year’s crop of candidates so my readers may apply whatever discount for bias…
